real hair extensions can be straightened but you have to keep using leave in conditioners, treatments etc to keep em good condition.

you can get human hair extension quite cheap depending on how you have extensions (i.e. clip in, bonded/glue, sewn)..

clip in 1s r cheaper...but are quite fiddly...

bond/glue in 1s...not cheap, and can damage hair...(victoria beckham had em removed and she had bald spots)

sewn in - your hair is braided, wefts of hair are sewn in...this tends to be the best way as your hair isnt exposed to heat n chemical damage and tend to be alot cheaper
