Usually when a rash appears (like on the face and neck area) it it because of some type of allergic reaction to the synthetic hair or the chemicals used to treat the so-called packaged human hair. One way to remedy this problem is to get the hair braided into a ponytail or some other style that is off of the face/neck area. If you are speaking about white/red bumps along the hairline, that is not a rash!! It is tension bumps. It is caused by the hair being braided too tight. There is too much tension for the small follicles of "your" hair that the "fake" hair is attached to. In order to alleviate this, have the braider not braid the hair too tight or get the braids done bigger. Most of the damage of this type is caused my micro style braiding and can cause permanent hair loss, called traction alopecia.

Apart from being careful when you wash your hair, or brush it, they are no problem at all. Especially if you go to a reputable salon that does these all the time. The hardest part is sitting still long enough to have the hair cornrowed to provide the base for the extension.

Honestly i think no matter the amount of money you have, hair extensions just are bad for your hair and scalp. they pull far to much tension on the scalp and cannot be comfy all of the time. I reckon Victoria's hair stylist recommended she got rid if them, for the pure reason they were knackering her hair, and she did need a change! xox

I usually wash them every two or three times I've used them in normal conditions. If you use styling products, I'd wash them after you use them. Use conditioner also. Or they go hard and crispy. Not nice. as there pretty expensive to replace.
I would say every 5 wears, or when they need it. Depends where you've worn them- smoky atmosphere etc. I use warm water with just a little soap, then blow or air dry. I would say normal shampoo would be too strong, that's what my hairdresser said anyway.

Go to the place of purchase. Ask for an MSDS sheet for the product. That is a Material Safety Data Sheet. They are not usually easy to read, but it will give you all the information you need to make an informed decision. You can ask a friend for help reading one.
By the way, you can get an MSDS sheet for any product you purchase. That includes paints, bug sprays, even water colors. Good luck! When in doubt don't use a product.

I find it helps to have 2 mirrors so you can see the top and back of your head as you go along, your wall mirror and a hand held mirror. Def start at the nape and work your way up, and make sure you have all the tools you need at hand i.e. comb, clips, scissors etc... Good luck

yes start from the nape and work your way to the top. make sure you have enough hair for the entire head! its better to have too much than not enough. you can always take back unused hair. or save it for another time. make sure your parts are as straight as you can get them ok i hope this helps. If you have the extention that has combs attached and you want a pony tail affect then you would place your hair in one bun, then you would attach the hair to your desired hight. it all depends how you want to wear your hair.

Well, this is how I put in extensions...I personally align the wefts to where it needs blending--around the crown first. Once it's perfectly blended in, I pin that hair up and do the area around the nape of the neck. If you did the top and the nape properly, the crown of the head is used to add volume, which you will need to use your discretion, to much looks fake, to little looks scarce.
Start at the nape of the head and work up,and put them tight into the root of your hair stop them falling out,make sure you have enough and if you have to brush them use a natural brush,i was a hairdresser,which i was there to put them in lol
One women I met had them, and her daughter (a hairdresser) placed them in the back midway between crown and nape from ear to ear in a U shape You'll need help with this.

On eBay they come in bundles of 50 or 100 strands. How much would I need for my whole head?
It really all depends on the thickness of your hair. If you have thicker hair, then you're going to need a lot more than 100 strands. The strands are teeny tiny and it takes ALOT to make it look natural.
I work at Sally's Beauty Supply and I sell fusion hair extensions/tools almost on a daily basis. My best reccomendation would be to consult a stylist on it, because when I was trained on it, it was reccomended to use atleast 2 or 3 packs of 100 count strands. It all depends on your hair %26amp; what you're looking for.
My stylist told me if i wanted fused hair extensions, I'd have to buy atleast 6 packs because my natural hair is so thick (just not long enough for my liking haha)
So before you buy, consult you stylist and see what he/she says.

Don't do it they'll look cheap!! If you want hair extensions get them done professionally. Spend a bit of money, that way they'll look good and last longer.
The cheap ones LOOK cheap!!! Best saving a little longer and pay more it is worth it. Do you have a Sally shop nearby - they stock really good ones.
When you get them take someone with you to help you choose a shade that's closest to your own colour, or go for a dramatic difference ie blonde with brown. you can get them with mixed colours and these are good if your own colour is hard to match.
Don't use glue, buy the ones with clips attached. Then you can have them in and out as you please.
Personally, I like them more when all the hair is curled so get out the tongs or Velcro rollers and give it a try - looks fabby!!

The cheap ones can be found relatively cheaply on ebay (as with most other things!) they can be bought for around 8-9 quid at that length. Real hair can be bought also.
The tiny clips at the ends of say a one inch wide hair extension are not very visible, depending on the hairstyle you choose. They can be quite good for boosting pin-up hairstyles to give more volume etc. but for hanging I would go with the real hair rather than synthetic, they can be curled, straightened, hair sprayed just as you would your own hair. They usually come in packs of 6 to 8 in that length, so you can choose how many you want to add for whatever look you're looking for and can trim a few of them so you have varying lengths etc. I'm not an expert though.
my 2nd cousin works at a hairdressers and says yes to them (she's not the sharpest tool in the shed but i spose she knows her stuff), but they look a lot better worn curly.
I get hair extentions quite frequently, i don't think you gonna find anything cheap. I get the waxed ones for just about $600, and the clip in ones are $200. But its worth it, looks realistic. If you want to pay cheap, ur gonna get cheap quality

Unless you can afford to get them done professionally, in which case they will probably sew them. Usually only celebrities get their hair glued in because their extensions often and can afford new extensions constantly. Normal people get them sewn in so they will last longer.
If you're going to do them yourself, I would get the ones with clips or combs to hold them in place. If you take proper care of them you will be able to use them again and again.
It should have someone do it for you, it's not so messy unless you don't what your doing.. It's easy but I would have somebody to do it for me because you have to part your hair in the back and your not gonna be able to see it..

You may have gotten the ones that you need to sew yourself, because those are the kinds that sally's usually sells.
If they are tracks then they have to be sewn in or glued in. if you never done it you should really let a professional do it.
if they have tracks .. wich is a strip of weaft at the top ... u can glue them in .. u get the glue at sallys as well its like a buck ... u first cut the weft into sections so the sections stretch across ur head and end just before ur hairlines ... u then part ur hair in horizontal parts , match up the cut sections of weft ... and put glue on the weft .. place glued side of weft directly below the part for ur section ON THE HAIR .. if u get the glue on ur scalp its gonna itch like no ones business... continue this until u have desired amount of extensions in .. make sure u leave sections inbetween each weft to cover ur tracks .. expecially at the top , crown and hairlines... if u bought extensions that dont have wefts .. sorry i couldnt help u .. i can put them in other pples hair but really hard to do ur self ..
Your best bet is to go to a beauty school in your area and ask what you need to do. The students can either show you what you need to do or do it for you for a small fee. Always leave a tip, even just a dollar :)
You don't have to sew them on. Usually if your getting the clip-on extensions, they come sewn together.

Yes you can relax your hair before you put in hair extensions. Remi is the best! The cuticle of the hair lays in the same direction as your hair, so you cannot tell they are hair extensions! I wear them all the time! I wouldnt do both procedures in the same day. Maybe do the relaxer one day and do a few deep conditioning treatments and then put the extensions in and I would fuse them in not sew them in, its not as hard to get them out and it wont damage your hair. They are kind of high maintence, I use Paul Mitchell gloss drops to keep the frizz down and a natural boare bristle brush to brush them. I also try to wash my hair every third day, maybe the first day do round brushing, the second day straighten them and then the third day wear it curly and then wash it. Its hard to train your scalp to do this if you are used to washing your hair everyday. And when you wash your hair use circular motions on your scalp, dont rake your fingers bc you will just create a big mess. Hope this helps! You will love them!
if you have afro carribean hair i would not recommend you brading or bonding your hair straight after relaxing it as this can cause breakage because it is to much stress on the hair- try waitin a few weeks until u get a little bit of regrowth and try not 2 braid 2 tightly hope this helps

it depends on the coarseness and color of your hair and the hair that you've selected, for $100.79, for all the tracts, I don't know how good a quality those are going to be, obviously they are synthetic. If you use a good, i mean VERY good stylist to put in you extensions who knows what they are doing, you could probably pull it off, i would guess doing rows would look more natural than fusion bonds.

Clip ins are absolutely temporary, they're not good for fine hair, they slip out fairly easily, midrange in price (think around $100-150 but are reusable).
Glue ins can last up to a few weeks, but usually only last a few days depending on how oily your scalp is, how often you wash your hair, and how rough you are styling it. They're about $60 - $90 to put in, and you'll need 2 packs of hair (at $30 a pack)
Sew ins last several weeks. Braids are made across the head and tracks of hair are sewn into the braids. It's a little uncomfortable for the first few days, but they look much more natural than clip ins and last longer than glue ins. It'll cost you around $100 to have them sewn in, and you'll need 2 packs of hair.
Fusions are MOST expensive and are longer lasting, but done improperly can damage your hair. Strands are fused to your real hair at the scalp. You have to bring your own hair, amount depends on how much hair you want fused in. It usually starts around $200 and take the majority of the day to put in.

I HAVE EXTENSIONS! HERE IS THE TRUTH:
extensions can be put in many ways. i have three rows, this is the least damaging to your hair because it is only using three small braids in your hair to hold the rows from ear to ear. a very very small braid is made, the row of hair, which is all completely and securely attached to a row of woven thread is then sown into the braid on your head, the ends are glued and suddenly you have twice as much hair as you did before. i have gone on beach vacations, straightened, colored, tugged, knotted, and messed so much with these extensions and they have never let me down.
do not get individuals, where they glue 5 pieces of hair to each one on your head, they can come out, pull out your own hair under the weight, it's all just bad news for your poor scalp, and very damaging to your own head.
things you should know about why i chose rows, and other info:
- they will never fall out
-every 6-8 weeks you have to have them taken out and put back in, as your hair grows they start to feel loose on your head, but they will never come out
-they feel strange at first, like your head gained ten pounds, especially when wet, but you get used to it
- you treat them just like your hair, and if you get good hair that looks and has the same wave, curl or straightness or your own; you will be very happy
- condition the hell out of them, think about the fact that the extensions don't have natural oil glands attached to them like your own hair, so they can get very dry
-sleep with them in a loose braid or in a loose bun on top of your head, if you don't, you will have a rat's nest on your head.
-i live in a metro area so i get them pretty cheap, expect to pay between $100-200 to get them put in and tightened... each time!!!
-i spent $600 on my hair, and it has lasted me longer than average. if you are nice to your hair then it can last a long time.
- get a great leave in conditioner and detangler, and a wide tooth brush.
go for it!!! they are so much fun when they look natural. boyfriends hate them, but they get over it =]
If its just temporary for a night out or something you can buy them that clip on they sound rubbish but are great.
go to the hair dresser and let her use the special glue for hair to glue the extentions or she can sew it in for you

well I am a hairdresser, and to be perfectly honest, I've seen and done every type of hair extentions, and they are really not good for your hair. even the ones you bond in like they do with Paris Hilton's hair, because clumps of your hair comes out with the bonds eventually. Your safest bet is to either have them temporarilly stitched in, or stick to the clip on ones that you can buy from the beauty supply stores. Jessica Simpson just came out with a beautiful line of her own clip in extensions in synthetic, or human hair. I hope I helped

Hi i do hairdressing and a lot of extensions will all damage your hair in some way. You can get ones that glue into your hair in strips or in bonds. You can now also get clip on extensions which aren't permanent and take them out as and when you please.All you have to do is backcomb the hair and clip them in, be warned though make sure theyre in secure enough or they will fall out. The clip-ins arent that damaging as the ones with the glue but they can still pull on the hair.

If applied and removed correctly, there will be minimal damage, so definitely go to a stylist!!
If you really want to be careful, but clip in's (Ebay do lots at a good price) or you can get clip-in ponytails.
If you do want extensions, try finding the individually bonded method. That way, with 150 separate bonds, if one comes out it will only be a small portion of your hair.
I have had these in for two years now and have had VERY little damage due to them being applied, removed and maintained correctly and professionally.

Not if you practice until every time you put on the extensions your hair looks like it was just done at the salon. Otherwise, for this special time, if you can afford it have it done professionally.

If you do not practice doing your hair and just randomly do something the night of your prom, then it may come out bad.
I would first try some hairstyles on your own before it is time for the prom and then if you find one you like, make sure its easy for you to do again. But it is the prom, I would defiantly just get it done, you'll know it will look good.
I don't think it's a bad idea at all. I did my own hair for prom, while my friend had hers done at a salon. Her curls fell out during the first half hour, mine lasted the whole night.
Do some practice runs before hand so you'll feel comfortable with the extensions and you'll know how much time to give yourself prom night. And give yourself a Plan B if the extensions don't work out on prom night (bun/updo/sparkly hair clip, etc).
If you like the way you do your hair then go for it!
no i think its very creative and smart to do your own hair. it give you a chance to be experience in hair cosmetology. Doing your own hair give you a sense of knowing you and what you like and how you like your hair to be done. If you bought your own hair for the price you did you should do it yourself.

Don't do it if you have very fine hair. My hair is very fine and got worse last year. I got extensions because of two very important trips I was taking soon. What little hair I had left came out with the extensions about three weeks later. Fine hair just can't handle the extra weight of the extensions. If you must, just get the clip in ones and take them out at night and just use them occasionally.
i really don't get what you are saying but if you are talking about name brand it really does not matter what type it is if it matches your hair color and the type of curl you have that is the kind you need
ummmmmmmmm i really dont know but i wear tracks that u glue in with hair clue so if u go to one of the hair stores with all the extensions they'll be diffrent types of straight ,curly and diffrent colors!!

hair extentions are weaved like stitched into your own hair, or they can be glued into your hair.{ hairline}. if you have a sally store in your area you can buy them there.they are somewhat cheap. look on e-bay they have them too. i already have really long hair, but the extentions can ruin your hair like when taken out your hair falls out with it. they are hard to manage as well. you should do a research on them before considering to get them. good luck.

You can go online and buy a bunch of clips for like 20.00.
You can sew them back onto the extensions.
You don't want to ruin them, maybe you should just get them sewn in when you have time.

You could probably find a way to attach hair clips to them, but depending on the length, they probably won't hold on for a long time, they would probably just slide off. You could try though.

I have just had a full head of Balmain extensions. I already have the Balmain brush, and know not to put conditioner on the roots, but I was wondering if anyone has any tips on which products to use (apart from the Balmain ones!) to keep them in good condition and possibly prolong the length of time i can keep them in?

I think extensions are awesome! I do them on my clients, and none of them have ever complained that they hurt or pull your hair out. But I would not advise going long, especially if you have a short A-Line cut; the short layers on top with longer layers underneath will give you a mullet effect閳?and im sure you DON閳ユ┏ want that. I would advise getting 12閳?- 18閳?individuals put in then cutting and layering them until they look right to you and your stylist. A great look that I have been giving my clients is a very long A-Line閳ヮ洑he shortest point hits the shoulders and the points in the front are severely longer and very fine-pointed in the front. You may also want to consider this look if you already have an A-Line cut because it will blend easily. I would say consult a stylist and see what he or she has to offer. A good stylist can give anyone extensions that look natural and appeasing. Good luck!
You can get them, but don't get them to long bc that will make it look bad, and don't go to some cheap place because they will end up looking tacky.

You can get long hair extensions. There isn't anything wrong with your hair being short. It will work. Trust me, i had long ones and my hair is short. Now i wear braids.
If you do have short hair the best extensions to get are the hair fusions. It's like attaching a long strand of hair to your own hair. Instrad of it being sowen in or glued it stays longer and is easier to maintain. You can put your hair up down half up half down, anything. It's perfect for people with short hair. And they look more natural!

Hey I go through the same thing. Deff. do NOT go to sally's beauty supply. They don't have 1. quality hair and 2. hair that will match a African American's hair texture. My best bet is to try Janet Human Hair. You will be able to find it at most places where African American people get their hair. Thats for weaving..if you are looking for braiding hair then get a brand that you know most people will know about..look for Janet Human Hair..and make sure if you are doing a weave..whether its a full head or tract by tract..your hair id braided with the tract sewn on..not glued..Happy Hair Hunthing!!

Because no in days people can't tell the difference between a weave and a front Lace wig, Beyonce's hair looka real but it's not Naomi Campbell hair looks real but once again it's not, just look at the raised part. and when people do get dreads, they don't keep up with them, i hate to see nappy tangled dreads.
Lock are dead hair that is twisted and they usually look ragged over time. That mean the scalp is not washed daily. It really just lookes unclean. Weaves and wigs are usually fake hair. So there is nothing unatural about this hair. Most people wear weaves and wigs and change the hair. The locks stay for years so that is years and years of dead hair on your head.

After I had twins my hair fell out loads, i was getting married a few months later so i got hair extensions, they looked lovely but when they came out i had less hair than id started, i wouldnt bother they ruin your hair and it takes ages to get right again, recently iv brought clip in hair and it is wonder full, i only wear it at weekends when i go clubbing but its gr8 easy to put in easy to take out easy to wash, anyone considering extensions go for clip ins

Extensions affect different people in different ways. Remember, you should never treat your hair with too many things at one time. For example: Don't get extensions and a relaxer or color treatment at the same time. Let your hair breathe some and best of luck with it growing back. Oh and if possible, never use hair glue, it just created a big mess and leaves most people bald.
I will suggest a "weave on" instead. You can choose to use natural hair and it looks exactly the same. You can have rows of weave, attached to your real with a thread (not as agressive as glue and Co). It will give u that natural look and more volume. Check out the afro hair salon for that.

Mine came out really well. No bald spots and my own hair was in great condition from being 'covered' by them!
I did take the extensions out myself though, rather than pay the hairdresser to do it.
Mine have been out about around a year now and I'd love to have new ones put back in. I just can't be bothered doing all the maintenance again.

Amen. both me and my daughter spent loads of money. What a waste. We now just wear hair pieces, you can get some good ones quite cheap, then you can have more ways to wear your hair. Now and again we wear full wigs, but the clip on extensions are just as effective. They are fun and easy to look after. Give em a try.
Well you must have went to a bad place, I've had extensions since I was 14, I'm 24, and that's necer happened to me.
Depending on what kind of extensions you got and who put them in you should not be folically challenged. I feel bad for you.
I disagree, I regularly wear extensions, and have never had a serious problem, just some discomfort from the removal of the glue. Just FYI it really depends on your stylist...and the method...... if she knows what she is doing, and does it right, you really should have no problem.
It also depends on how you care for them. Meaning how or if you pull your hair up, or how you brush.
I am REALLY sorry you had such a bad time with them..... i know the first time i had them, i had them glued in, and when i removed them....OMG it felt like someone was hanging from my hair........
something that helped me.... I took a really hot bath, and then layed my head back, so that all of my scalp was in the water but not my face, and let it soak in the hot water. I felt a lot better after.... I don't know why it helps but it seems to.

Definitely go with the clip in's but good quality..it'll cost you around $260-300 but it's well worth it. You can dye them and put them in/take out whenever PLUS they look very natural, you can't even tell they're in!
Just depends on who put them in, whether they were a professional and really knew what they were doing or not. This is not true for all people it's just an experience you had. You should get you some aphogee reconstructive treatment and apply every 6 weeks. Yo can find this at Sally's........... keep your ends trimmed and your hair should grow back. But remember extensions are not for everybody!!!
