Are hair extensions damaging?

My mom is a hairdresser so she usually does my hair. When I see her next she's putting more blonde highlights in. I'd also like to hav extensions just for the fun of it.... are extensions damaging??? I've never had them before.

It depends on the technique your mom uses (i.e. glued, sewn, braided). Whatever technique she uses, If she does it right, it shouldn't be damaging. Also be careful when removing. Try not to do it excessively either. Look at Crazy Spears, she ruined her hair and ended up shaving it to get it healthy again. Same with Ms. Aguilera.

if you glue them in, trust me, the removal of the glue will attach to your hair and rip it out

if you get them to last, have them braided in and not glued. if they are glued in and are taken out the wrong way it will cause bald spts in your scalp. or you could go the easy route and get the clip ins. or if your mom knows how to do single strand bonding you can do that as well. hope this helps

The real ones are incredibly damaging and can cause hair loss.

It's best to get clip in hair extentions because

1. There alot cheaper than real ones

2. They dont damage your hair

3. They last longer

4. You can try them out to see if they suit you before buying

5. You dont have to wear them all the time

Hope this has helped!

Glue in hair extentions are bad for hair, why do you think victoria beckham had to have hers taken out and have a completely new hair cut?

GLUED IN EXTENSIONS are good for people with fine hair, they are fast, easy to keep up and less noticable. I don't know why people are always like "they rip out all of your hair, der der der". If you take care of them, you have to be gentle with them, they don't harm your hair! And they slide right out when you rub baby oil around the glue. I do them all the time (i'm a stylist too) and you just have to be comitted.

the clip in extensions are fine too, but I find that if you have thicker hair like myself, you can't get enough rows in and they tend to slide as the day goes on.

Hot fusion is probably the best, but all it is is glue beads(the same glue for glue in extensions I might add) all over your head. Not a lot of stylists can do this properly though and it takes a long time. Although they are the most natural looking ( assuming you get human tangle free hair) and you can easily pull them into a ponytail without worrying if your wefts are showing, lol.
